Field Update
The tomatoes seem to be coming on nicely, albeit the bugs think so too. So far our irrigation seems to be keeping their thirst content. Although small, our pepper plants are beginning to finally show some production. The humid mornings, with an occasional rain shower, over the past few weeks have resulted in our older crops of zucchini, squash, and cucumbers acquiring a fungal disorder known as powdery mildew. Our cantaloupe crop has acquired this disorder as well, but hopefully we will be able to gather some melons before the plants get too much worse. We are working hard to outgrow the wild purselane that has become an awful weed in our lettuce houses. While we hope you enjoyed the arugula this past week, we hope to have spring mix back in your shares soon. . We have found two local sources of blueberries that were not severely impacted by the late frost back in early April. Hopefully within a few weeks, your shares will include blueberries. In the interim, expect more of potatoes, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, new potatoes, squash etc.
Until next time,
