How The CSA Works
We anticipate harvesting for the Spring 2010 season to begin in late March or early April and to extend into the late May mid June timeframe. The first part of our ten week season may include varieties such as broccoli, cauliflower, beets, carrots, onions, leeks, cabbage, mustard greens; and with the advent of spring to evolve into cucumbers, squash, red potatoes, tomatoes and peppers. Salad greens and culinary herbs are likely to provided throughout the ten-week program. We have strawberries planted as well. Please take a look at the Harvest Calendar to have a better idea of what is seasonally available.
Once the harvest begins, members will be allowed to pick up their produce at various pick-up sites located in Houston. Different from last spring, we now have different delivery days for different pick up locations. Please view the Pick Up Locations page for delivery times and days near you. The amount and selection of produce in each share is entirely dependent on what our soil yields. Your diet will reflect the season and the land. Boxes not picked up on the day of selected will be donated to a local food charity.
WHAT WILL MEMBERS RECEIVE?
Members will receive at least 5 to 8 different types of vegetables and herbs each week during the growing seasons. Our farm grows several varieties of vegetables and will strive to give members the best quality produce possible.
WHAT IS THE COST?
This Spring 2010 CSA program exists for 10 weeks with late March being the targeted start date. Share sizes are $330 for a Full Share ($33/wk) and a Partial Share is $220 ($22/wk) for a ten-week program.
